Certified pneumatic training, run from Waterford
A four-day course in pneumatic system maintenance, leading to an internationally recognised qualification — with your own drawings built into the material.
Airpower runs a four-day training course in pneumatic system maintenance, aimed at people who need to prove their competence maintaining pneumatic systems in a production environment.
The course enables maintenance staff to work effectively with preventative and corrective maintenance strategies on modern pneumatic industrial systems and components. We can build your own application drawings into the material, so what’s learned transfers straight back to your plant. Quizzes punctuate the course, giving learners practice at assessment-type questions.
By the end, participants can
- Maintain the efficient operation of pneumatic systems.
- Identify standard pneumatic components and understand their functions and maintenance requirements.
- Use pneumatic circuits to predict the behaviour of machines.
- Locate, diagnose and replace faulty components.
- Explain the health and safety legislative requirements for air-powered machinery.
- Take suitable precautions when working with pneumatic equipment.
The four days
- Day 1 — Theory, units and principles of compressed-air systems; generation and distribution; air service unit maintenance including soft-start; actuator types and sizing; valve types, designations and operators.
- Day 2 — Valve symbols, basic pneumatic circuits, testing and fault-finding in basic circuits, predicting operation from circuit diagrams.
- Day 3 — Building, testing and fault-finding more advanced pneumatic and electro-pneumatic circuits; theory exam one.
- Day 4 — Safe work practices; sensor and valve PLC wiring and troubleshooting; theory exam two; sequential circuits; practical assessment and portfolio of work activity.
The course covers component 6N5375 Industrial Pneumatic Systems, a module of the major level 6 award 6M5154 Maintenance Skills Technology. If you already have experience or prior training and believe you could complete the assessments without attending the full course, talk to us about assessment only.
Airpower’s pneumatics training courses are led by our fully certified trainer, who has specialised in technical training for over twenty years. We run regular courses, starting with entry level for those new to pneumatics.
