Innovations in pneumatics and sensors

Festo's energy-efficiency module and vision sensor, and Sick's PowerProx — three releases that change what a machine can do about its own air and its own eyesight.

We focus here on recently released product innovations in pneumatics and sensors reaching the Irish market.

Festo MSE6-E2M: saving compressed air automatically

The intelligent energy-efficiency module monitors and regulates the compressed-air supply in both new and existing systems. More than monitoring and analysis, the MSE6-E2M intervenes: it shuts off the supply air as soon as a system enters standby, so consumption falls immediately.

  • Automatic shut-off of compressed air in standby mode.
  • Automatic detection and notification of leakages.
  • Online monitoring of process-relevant data.

Festo SBSI: image processing made easy

An all-in-one vision sensor with optics, lighting, evaluation and communication in a single device. Setup takes three or four steps, 360° position tracking removes the need to align mechanical parts, and external SBAL lighting connects directly. Simple camera applications can be implemented quickly and cost-effectively without expert knowledge.

Sick PowerProx

The PowerProx MultiTask photoelectric sensor brings time-of-flight technology into the smallest housing of its kind. It detects objects reliably over large sensing ranges — even shiny or jet-black surfaces, and against background reflections — with a highly visible light spot that simplifies alignment, and a rugged VISTAL housing that survives high mechanical loads.
